All About Mrs. Samuel
JOBS
This is my 13th year teaching. I have always taught grades 3-5.
I really love this age! Before teaching school, I managed a shoe shop on St. Simons called Jacobson's, and for the next 10 years I was the store manager for Tide Treasures in St. Marys---later named Sheila's Hallmark. I decided to go back to school when my daughter was in 2nd grade to get a degree in teaching. I have taught at Woodbine Elementary, Matilda Harris, and now I am home at Mamie Lou Gross. I love this school! Our administrators, staff and kids are the best in the county!

FAMILY
I have one daughter, Taylor, who attended Camden County High School and graduated in 2006. I am so proud of her and all her accomplishments. I cannot even begin to tell you how lucky I was to have a child like Taylor. I did not know a child could have so much energy! Can you say ADHD? She kept me on my toes 24/7! She still does! I jokingly tell her that she is the reason I only had one child. She was exhausting! I say that I was very lucky because she never gave me any of the typical teenage problems. She got into trouble CONSTANTLY at school ---year after year after year---with talking TOO MUCH in class! She was one of those kids who drives teachers crazy because there is never a place in the room to put them so they will be quiet.  However, she always managed to make As and Bs on her report card. I always put my trust in her teachers and coaches to handle the talking problem however they needed. I am so proud of her in so many ways, The one thing that makes me most proud of her is who she is! She never meets a stranger, and she is extremely unpretentious. A teacher at Mamie Lou told me a couple of years ago that her daughter and friends thought Taylor would be really "stuck up," Then they met her and couldn't believe how nice she was to them. What a great compliment! This is the kind of thing I love hearing most about her.  I am sure that you can see that she is my life, and I could go on and on! She is full of life with personality plus! Taylor is in her senior year of college at Valdosta State University. She is very involved is her sorority (Phi Mu).  Her major is journalism and news broadcasting. SEE!!! All that talking in school paid off!  It sure is quiet around here while she is gone, but I see her every weekend or at least every two weeks.

HOBBIES
I love, love, love to travel! I am always ready for a road trip to anywhere! This summer I went to Washington, DC. That was a great trip! I enjoy history. A few years ago my family and I went to Europe (Italy, France, Switzerland, and England) for two weeks. I always dreamt of visiting Europe since I was a little girl. It was a wonderful experience, and I saw so many fascinating and historic sites. My next dream is to visit Australia next...and then Greece, etc....

PETS (Family)
Last, but not least, I am a huge animal lover! Dogs, however, are my favorite animal. We lost our sweet dog, Brogan, a couple of years ago. Now, we have another red and black German Shepherd named Riley who is quite energetic and a Bassett Hound named Boe (formerly called Buttercup by the Malson's) who is quite lazy. This summer we found two baby kittens in the bushes (I am not a cat person), so we took them home to raise. They are getting really big now. I keep them on my screened back porch until they are big enough to protect themselves against Riley and Boe.

That is really all I have to tell you about me (and Taylor) for now.  So far, I have been having a great school year. My language arts classes are great! I am really excited about teaching the writing to all the 3rd graders this year.

Keep in touch!
